Auction site ideasPosted by Mark Garrett Sun, September 14, 2008 00:20:13I use eBay because it is powerful and literally opens up a world market for what I want to buy or sell. In the past I have not had an issue with the cost, I am not expecting something for nothing. Even PayPal can be really handy. But when I am going to be told that I must use PayPal, and I must do anything else, then that irritates me. Google folks should realize that when I get on eBay I can be there for hours. With their marketing savvy there must be money waiting to be made for them in advertising alone. Google - there is a marketing just waiting for you!
Auction site ideasPosted by gasadmin Sat, September 13, 2008 20:55:08We are guessing that as you have signed the petition you have had some kind of bad experience using eBay or you wouldn't be here! Therefore you have the experience to be able to let us know, and therefore Google, your ideas for an auction site.
What features would you like to see? How do you think the feedback system should be run? How can it be made fairer for all and yet a safer place to trade?
Ideas please!

The Google PetitionPosted by gasadmin Sat, September 13, 2008 15:20:35First of all we want to say a big thank you to all those who have already signed the petition; by doing that alone you have already voiced your opinion that all is not well with the eBay and PayPal camps, despite what they would have you believe. Your signature and indeed your assistance is invaluable if we are to convince Google to get in the arena with eBay, and wrestle it to the ground!
Therefore we need more people like you, and so that is why we are asking for further help from you, to give the campaign a major boost.
By telling your friends, family and basically anyone you think about our plea, you are making the chances of a Google auction website a reality. With the more signatures that sign the petition, the more likely it is that Google will sit up and take notice. In their eyes they think there is no call for another auction site (or they would be doing it!), so therefore we need to convince them otherwise.
Google created Google Checkout because it realised the potential that it could provide a better service than PayPal, and save the customer money. Google needs convincing about an auction site that would see thousands upon thousands, actually millions, fleeing from eBay to set up a new home.
